TTC’s new streetcar takes early morning maiden voyage down Bathurst Street
“The TTC’s streetcar of tomorrow had its maiden voyage overnight, giving Toronto night owls a rare glimpse of the state-of-the-art ride.
“It was its first trip. We made it a short one, and we were very, very happy with it,” said TTC spokesperson Brad Ross.
The new car made a moonlit round trip from the TTC’s Hillcrest facility to Bathurst station, making it the first ride on a city street. The route was chosen to test a variety of streetcar capabilities, including wide turning, braking and a dip beneath a bridge.
Riders will get to experience the new ride when the TTC introduces the new streetcars on the 510 Spadina route in early 2014.” Continue Reading

Tomorrow is the opening reception for a photography show that I have one piece in. Half of me is excited, and the other half is itching to sneak in to the gallery before the show starts, and snatch up my photo National Treasure style. I think I’ll spend the opening evening by the snack table and take advantage of the cheap alcohol.

Toronto Now the Fourth Largest City in North America
“The City of Toronto’s latest Economic Dashboard report - presented at today’s meeting of the Economic Development Committee - states that Toronto has overtaken Chicago in population and is now the fourth largest city in North America. The City of Chicago’s population was most recently estimated at 2,707,120 while the City of Toronto’s total population is now estimated at 2,791,140 – supplanting Chicago’s position of fourth-largest city while placing Toronto behind urban heavyweights Mexico City, New York City and Los Angeles.”
